Hi,
I have a Samsung NP350V5c-A02UK and today I noticed that the CD/DVD drive was not working. It didn't show in My Computer and when I put a CD nothing came up on screen. I looked on the internet and found that I had to look in device manager to see the problem. So I did and I clicked on my CD/DVD drive and it had a explanation mark in a yellow triangle and it said
'Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)'
I found this website http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/code-19-error.htm
and I tried step 4. I uninstalled the driver however I don't have the driver file to reinstall it and get the CD/DVD Drive working again. I looked on the internet and I couldn't find it to download. If you can please can you tell me where to download it because I need the CD Drive for work and my children need it for school work. Any replies will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Alex.

This page contains information about installing the latest Samsung DVD Writer driver downloads using the Samsung Driver Update Tool.
Samsung DVD Writer drivers are tiny programs that enable your DVD Writer hardware to communicate with your operating system software. Maintaining updated Samsung DVD Writer software prevents crashes and maximizes hardware and system performance. Using outdated or corrupt Samsung DVD Writer drivers can cause system errors, crashes, and cause your computer or hardware to fail. Furthermore, installing the wrong Samsung drivers can make these problems even worse.
Recommendation: If you are inexperienced with updating Samsung device drivers manually, we highly recommend downloading the Samsung DVD Writer Driver Utility. This tool will download and update the correct Samsung DVD Writer driver versions automatically, protecting you against installing the wrong DVD Writer drivers.
Do these to clear corruption and repair/replace damaged/missing system files.

Stage 1 : Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total
process which solves the issue. Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not shown continue below. Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues. Remove ALL power, then check cables in both ends. Remove and replace, do not just snug. For laptops you can often clean the power and data contacts with a pencil eraser. Some DVD drives do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the System maker and device maker to see if there is firmware or drivers for you drive if needed. Stage 2 : You could have drive issues as the CD/DVD is actually 4 drives in 1 case ( CD & DVD burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to not function while the others do so properly. Did you complete the troubleshooter for the drive that still does not work? There are some registry entries that the troubleshooter does not fix and those 'might' be the cause. Check with your System Maker and Device maker for both possible firmware updates and the correct Registry entries for your drive. These are the keys I think are the ones in question - for the CD/DVD drive sub-keys of course as there will other sub-keys in these keys. Be sure to ask for specific keys involved as well as the settings. Recently I became the mostly happy owner of an HP Pavilion dm1z. I say “mostly happy” because I wasn’t thrilled with its performance. To give the system a boost, I decided to swap the pokey 5,200-rpm hard drive with a speedy Solid State Drive (SSD).
The Samsung SSD upgrade kit I bought came with Norton Ghost 15--a utility that would copy the entire contents of my existing hard drive to the new drive--on CD. But the Pavilion, like so many ultrabooks, ultraportables, and other ultra-compact laptops, has no CD drive. How was I supposed to install Ghost?
A friend of mine had a similar problem with some new drive-less systems he’d purchased. He wanted to install his licensed, disc-based copies of Microsoft Office, but couldn’t.
This begs the question: If your PC lacks an optical drive, how can you install software that’s stored on a CD or DVD?
You have two options. Final fantasy tactics thief skills. First, you can buy or borrow an external drive. A quick check of Ebay reveals tons of USB DVD burners selling for $20-40. Might be a handy item to have on hand.
Second, try downloading your software instead. When I checked Samsung’s support page for my SSD kit, I found not only manuals and drivers, but also Norton Ghost 15.
I downloaded it, installed it, then activated it using the license key that came with the actual disc.
You can do likewise with Microsoft Office: just download the trial version that matches the version you already own, then activate it using your product key. (This gets a little trickier with older versions of Office, as Microsoft currently offers only the 2010 edition for download. You might need to hit up some torrent sites to find older trials.)
This method should work for the vast majority of other software as well. Usually you can download a trial or demo version and then unlock it with your license key. And the added bonus is you’ll have the latest updates right from the get-go.
Optical drive, shmoptical drive. Who needs it?

I recently had to replace my laptop's HDD, because the old one died unexpectedly. now I cannot get the drivers to install for my DVD player, and it's driving me nuts. laptop is a samsung brand running windows 7, the model number is NP-QX411-W02UB and the driver in question is listed as TSSTcorp CDDVDW SU-208AB ATA Device. I have tried running the troubleshooter, uninstall/reinstall from device manager, modifying the registry as directed in the microsoft KB for people having this issue after going to windows 10, running SFC scan, attempting to find the driver using drivertalent (which I use frequently, so I own the 'pro' version of), and, of course, rebooting A LOT. anyone have any other ideas? unfortunately the samsung site is no help, since it keeps redirecting me back to the main downloads page as soon as I enter my model number, and I have had nothing but bad experiences and wasted time trying to get help from samsung tech support with other issues, so I don't intend to try it again.
